Non-Surgical Treatments are generally less painful than Surgical Treatments.
Conservative Nail Edge Removal
Involves removal of a thin edge of nail to provided immediate and temporary relief, generally performed without Anaesthetic. Most patients will get recurrence of their ingrowing toenail within a few months, and as such this is considered a non-permanent solution for ingrown toenail.
The affected edge of nail is gently loosened and split using special tools. Note: This is usually be done without needles to numb the toe, as it does not cause any pain to do this.
The edge of nail is carefully removed, relieving pressure and pain immediately. Most patients will get at least 6 weeks of relief from this procedure.
